64,000 SF Multi-Tenant Creative Loft Development
In September 2021, MANNA acquired this 64,000 SF heavy timber loft building located in the heart of Chicago’s rapidly transforming “Makers District” within the Kinzie Corridor / West Town neighborhood. Originally constructed in 1916 by the Chicago Transit Authority as a trolley car repair and storage facility, the building was later owned for over 40 years by the Racana family, who operated a fine Italian furniture showroom and warehouse on-site.
In 2022–2023, MANNA completed a full-scale renovation, repositioning the property as The Machine Shop | North—a dynamic, multi-tenant incubator tailored for hard-tech users and downtown service providers. The building features exceptional corner visibility and is zoned C3-2, allowing for a flexible mix of warehouse, retail, and office uses. In April 2024 MANNA signed a lease with GOODWILL industries to occupy the entire ground floor as warehouse / sorting operation and retail store. The second floor is available for flex users at The Machine Shop.
